The Next Generation- iPhone 5S (Part 3)

The “main attraction” as they say. Well here it is the iPhone 5S. Apple calls it “The most forward thinking smartphone in the world”. Could we go that far. Well the specs are very nice and the new features aren’t too shabby as they say.

It features an impressive 64-bit A7 processor that will be up to twice as fast at CPU tasks. Another significant new feature is a “Touch ID” capacitive fingerprint sensor built into the home button that’s capable of scanning sub-epidermal skin layers. Touch ID can be used to unlock an iPhone and authorize iTunes purchases. This is one of the new iOS 7 features accessed only through this iPhone.

What is really impressive with this iPhone is the isight camera in the rear has a new 5-element lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a sensor that is 15% larger than the one in the current iPhone 5 It also features a dual-LED “True Tone” flash that will adapt to the existing lighting to provide better colors and more accurate skin tones. Some other features are burst mode capable of capturing 10 pictures per second and slow-motion 720p video capture at 120 frames per second. Very nice for a camera that is always in your pocket. Maybe this is the next Pocket Cinema Camera ( there will be a few of you that understand the joke).

Pricing will as in years past be $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB, and $399 for the 64 GB model (no 128 GB version as thought at one point). Apple mentioned nothing about pre-orders so it seems there will be none. It will be available in stores at the same day as iPhone 5C, Sept 20. I guess those guys that got in line over this past weekend at the flagship store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan have a reason now.

Well you can probably tell these post today are something I usually don’t do, mainly covering specs of a product. At some point later this week I will delve deeper into the products and give more of my thoughts. But in the meantime I will probably focus on the journey for the next couple days.
